What a story contained so effortlessly in that ad!
The parenthetical is out of place and messes up the flow. I would cut it entirely. If they insist on including text therein, I'd rewrite it as "...better not buy one now. It'll take too long to get a new VW wagon into bad enough shape.
Think about it. The body's been welded..."
