Minimalistic "Moneyball" poster will get stat nerds hard.

(click)
As a Mariners fan, I watched, in disbelieving horror, as those shitty A's teams somehow blew past the M's to win division crowns. As a Strat-O-Matic baseball junkie for many years, this poster touches me in that special, innocent boyhood place. The movie was pretty damn good, despite the awful Brad Pitt casting. You can buy the poster here. Related: a post of baseball ads.

Clever graphic, but what about the space between Money and Ball that's not supposed to be there?

Write him on etsy and get him to do it right. Fucking graphic designers.

But how bad do you think Billy Beane wanted Edgar? A pure hitting machine that not only couldn't field, but he could hardly run. We'll always have that.

'Gar beat the fucking Yankees. It is for that reason that I have a Martinez Seattle road jersey.

The reason you have an Edgar Martinez jersey is that Edgar Martinez was fucking awesome.

Too bad the batter graphic is wrong. If the POV is supposed to be from the front of a right handed batter (which I think it is), the bat is in the wrong position, it should be behind the head. If the POV is supposed to be from behind a lefty, then the grip is wrong, the leading hand should be on the bottom (and don't give me any "cross-handed BS").

Baseball fan... pffffft.

I suggest you also write to the designer on etsy before you order yours.

Thanks, though.

So the designer, here, is hitting . . . what, 225?

^No thanks. I'll give him credit for the percentage idea, but if he wants to rip people off with a poorly executed design that's on him.

Although, the pitch locations bring up an interesting question – is it better to plunk 'ranter in the lung or show him a purpose pitch over his inflated noggin? What would be the payoff for each?

You think Edgar belongs in the hall?

Subjectively, yes. The man hit, like, .700 against Mariano Rivera.

Objectively, no. He was mostly a DH. He got called up too late in his career (thank YOU, Jim Presley) to get to 3,000 hits.
